Return of the God Hypothesis
Quotes
Many physicists today regard the argument over fine tuning as "a wash." Some leading physicists have told me–in all candor–that they regard the multiverse hypothesis as a speculative metaphysical hypothesis, not a scientific one. For them, since neither other universes nor God can be observed or measured, the choice between the two theories comes down to subjective preference.

Thoughts
In this book, Stephen Meyer gives a high-level overview of cosmological and biological theories for explaining the origins of our world. His conclusion is that these discoveries clearly points to intelligent design, but ultimately, that can't be proved. There is no empirical way for us to prove what is infinite, but something has to be. So I'd argue it comes down to this choice for each person:
Choose your eternal: god or matter
God
If god is eternal, we don't need an explanation for the universe since god set it in motion. While scientific pursuits are useful and interesting, they'll only reveal the processes which god used to make the universe.
With god as your answer, you better spend time figuring out what or who god is. Then, live according to god's will (you might even be god)!
Matter
Under the assumption matter is eternal, there would be an infinite number of universes which validates the "weak anthropic principle." We should not be suprised to be living in a universe which supports life, because otherwise, we would not be able to observe it. Meyer argues the existence of the universe hinges on many extremely small probabilities, but those don't mean much up against infinity.
If matter is your choice, You should probably look into cryonics and
maximizing your personal happiness. Don't waste your energy on
concerns or people that don't affect you (unless that makes you sad of
course).
If you are undecided or apathetic in your choice then you are living
a suboptimal life.
